You can download the Arduino Compiler Software or work online.
The Raspberry Pi can use Python, C, or C++ compilers for example. Those compilers are available via the standard Raspberry Pi Downloads.

Download the Arduino sketch compiler here -- many examples are included. The examples are called sketches and are very similar to "C" -- though simplified. Among other things, I have designed and built seismometers that communicated through UDP to a database on a Linux server with a PC running a Delphi program talking to multiple devices running the sensor program.
